Mid-Month Update

Quick update - still goin' strong! Haven't missed one day of running yet this month (other than my scheduled rest days...which were planned). If I keep it up and stay on track, I'll hit 450 by the end of June!

Back At It

I'm slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things with my running schedule. After seeing my May results and being disappointed in the low mileage, I made my running schedule for June and am proud to say I've stuck with it and haven't missed a day yet! It feels good being productive and making a dent in my miles again.

I did 9 miles yesterday, which was the first time I have done any kind of long distance since my last half marathon at the beginning of May. It was pretty rough, but I finished in under 1:30. It started off fairly overcast, but then the sun started shining and it became brutal, quick!

If I stay on track with my running schedule I made for June, I'll be around 450 miles by the end of the month. A little short of my 500 mile goal by the end of month 6, but I know I can make those up in the second half of the year!

Month 5 Recap

Last week marked the end of my 5th month in working towards my goal of running 1,000 miles by the end of this year!

See recap below:

Talk about another low mileage month! There was quite a bit of a gap between May 5th and 13th due to recovery from the Pittsburgh Half Marathon. My knee was killer after that!

I completed 61 miles this month compared to 64 in April89 in March76 in February and 80 in January

My low mileage is a bit discouraging, as I wanted to do more this month than April because my knee has been feeling better. But with it starting to get hotter out and after starting Insanity mid-May, I found more excuses coming my way.

I need to get back into making a running calendar to schedule out my runs, instead of just estimating what I need to do, or saying "Oh, I can do more tomorrow to make up for it" (which never actually ends up happening). The calendar worked for me the first 3 months, so I am going to make a schedule for June tonight. If it's too hot outside, that's why we have a treadmill (even though I'm not a big fan of it)! I'm going to suck it up!

Also, by not having a race scheduled this month, it may help me gain more mileage for June. When I do races, it does give me more miles at one time, but I end up having to take almost a week off to recover..which puts a damper on the month and those rest days add up quickly!

I was really wanting to be at 500 miles by the end of June, since that marks the halfway point, but I'm not sure that'll happen. I am going to try and get at least 80 miles this month, which would bring me up to 450 by July, 50 miles behind schedule...yikes! I feel some 2-a-days coming...

Thanks again for the support and any advice is welcomed to help me keep pushing!
