2015 3M & Austin Half Marathon Recaps

Hello everyone! It's been a while and I'm way behind on posting, but I figured better late than never, right?

My friends and I have completed two half marathons in 2015 already! I think it's safe to say that the runner bug has bitten a few of them :) it happens...as for me, I may take a little breather from long runs due to some knee issues.

I have the Bearathon Half Marathon in Waco at the end of March and then the Liverpool Half Marathon mid-June. Other than that, I'm going to take it down a few notches until my knee is back to normal.

Backing up a month or so, I mentioned in my first post of 2015 that a group of us girls would be running 2,015 miles in 2015. We kicked off our goal with the 3M Half Marathon on January 25th. There were about 8 of us girls running it and we kicked some booty! The majority of us ran together in a pack while we motivated and encouraged each other for the bulk of the race (a few others went ahead and got some great PRs!). Around mile 10, we broke out into individuals or groups of two. Everyone had great finish times and I really enjoyed getting to run this race with my friends. I already know a few of us signed up again for the same race in 2016.

Three short weeks later, a few of us ran the Austin Half Marathon this past Sunday. This was my first time running this race and it was much harder than the 3M. The elevation and hills were killer, but I actually enjoyed the course a lot. There were definitely more people running it, which meant more sideline crowds (my favorite).

Love this medal!

I was pretty sore after both runs and it took a good 2-3 days for my knee to stop hurting. But after some rest and relaxation, my legs feel much better and I'm ready to get back out in this wonderful weather we're having here in Austin...sorry East coast...
